When women grow, families prosper Elevate PAK by Circle Pakistan

When women grow, families prosper and Pakistan’s progress women must be a part of the solution.

With this spirit, an innovative initiative has been started from the dynamic city of Karachi with K Electric, National Foods, Engro Corp, and Standard Chartered who will participate with the entrepreneurial innovator, CIRCLE Pakistan, on a program that commits to empowering women in the workplace starting Sept. 21st. This program is focused on increasing women’s participation in the growth of our economy and to develop their abilities to exercise leadership.

The program kicked off with a session on September 21st this year. On opening session Ms Sima Kamil, the first women to lead a large commercial bank in Pakistan gave a keynote speech and shared her own journey till now and encouraged participants. She also urged all of the women to think big, support each other and expand their networks. Sima shared how she said yes to opportunities in her career even when it was challenging.

Launch session was hosted by National Foods Pakistan, at the occasion CEO (National Foods) Abrar Hasan welcomed everyone and shared his commitment to promoting gender equality, he also emphasized that women should come forward to play a key role at the decision-making level.

 

The Elevate Pakistan is a 10 months program which includes Leadership programs, workshops, mentorship, webinars to grow women leaders. It will conclude with policy recommendations to promote women in the workforce and create cultures where women can thrive. Last week I was there at one of the workshops where CIRCLE founder Sadaffe Abid ran a workshop on a very demanding topic “Adaptive Leadership” with the participants.

Peek Freans Sooper brought another world record to Pakistan

Peek Freans Sooper has officially broken the Guinness World Records for the Largest Cookie Mosaic in the shape of Pakistan’s flag made with more than 150,000 cookies measuring 226.51 square meters  (2,438.15 square feet).

The team worked with great fervour and passion as they slowly pieced together the mosaic, block by block, biscuit by biscuit using Peek Freans Sooper cookies. With hard work, dedication and a Sooper attitude, the flag mosaic was finally completed after a determined effort of six hours and thirty minutes.
Safety and hygiene were of paramount importance and the team assured that the strict quality standards employed by Peek Freans were followed throughout the process. The record building process was overseen by independent witnesses including a health and hygiene inspector and a surveyor from Islamabad.
The biscuits used for making this mosaic were packed in custom built containers and distributed to notable charities operating across Pakistan.

This record breaking event was attended by a number of celebrities including Younis Khan, Shoaib Akhtar, Adnan Siddiqui and Hareem Farooq. They came out to support the efforts of Peek Freans Sooper and were seen cheering for the team and encouraging them throughout the event.
As the Guinness World Records team announced the result, the participants were finally rewarded with the confirmation that Pakistan & Peek Freans Sooper had made the history books by making a Guinness World Records on the day of the country’s 70th Independence Day.

Meri Shaan Mera Pakistan

Meri Shaan Mera Pakistan (My Pride My Pakistan)

Meri Shaan Mera Pakistan is a street art campaign, initiated by EFU Life Insurance in Karachi. Last year, EFU Life Insurance, under the guidance of Commissioner Karachi, Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Khan, and his team of Commissioner Karachi Division, decided to come forward and start a CSR campaign “Meri Shaan Mera Pakistan” to reclaim the public spaces by wiping the dirty wall chalking and painting a positive image of Pakistan’s culture through fantastic art work.

The artistic idea of EFU Life Insurance’s CSR was to highlight country’s rich cultural heritage by creating huge paintings of national events, festivals, monuments and portraits of its legends on city walls. Which was the necessity of time as Karachi is reclaiming its position as the City of Lights?

The campaign successfully ornamented the walls at Ayesha Manzil and National Coaching Centre (NCC) with huge paintings displaying the diversity of cultures within a nation. In total, a large portion approx. 5000 sq.ft was covered with picturesque images during this campaign.

KFC Pakistan handed over Rs. 5 million to Zindagi Trust

KFC Pakistan handed over Rs. 5.0 million to Zindagi Trust, on account of their ongoing CSR campaign called ” Mitao Bhook” on 28th of July 2017, I was invited to cover the event. I had a superb time with the students of Khatoon-e-Pakistan School which is being run by Zindagi Trust.

The event begins with recitation from Holy Quran and National Anthem (superbly performed through flute by talented students of Khatoon-e-Pakistan School) followed by speeches of KFC Pakistan’s CEO and Zindagi Trust’s founder Shahzad Roy.

Zindagi Trust, a social organization that supports the education of underprivileged children and transform government schools and they were partners of KFC Pakistan in ” Mitao Bhook” campaign. Back in March, Mitao Bhook partnered with Zindagi Trust to support education for the underprivileged children by dedicating its iconic chicken bucket for this cause. Rs. 50 from the sale of each bucket went towards the partnering organization and by the end of its 4 months long partnership, KFC Pakistan has been able to raise Rs. 5 million for them.

Shahzad Roy, Founder and President of Zindagi Trust, addresses the media and paid his gratitude to KFC’s CSR platform,

“It is decided that providing education to the masses will be a major challenge unless government schools in Pakistan are revamped. This is the reason why we have revamped two government schools, Khatun-e-Pakistan Government School and Fatima Jinnah Government School. There are more than 3500 girls studying at these two institutions. We are grateful to KFC Mitao Bhook for running a campaign for us and taking us to the consumer front. We are glad for their contribution and the solid partnership that we successfully close today. “  

Raza Pirbhai, CEO KFC Pakistan added, “I would like to share with you the success of our CSR platform Mitao Bhook where we have partnered with multiple NGOs till date and contributed more than 60 million for the education of underprivileged. With everybody’s kind and enduring effort to raise donations for this cause, we have been able to make a remarkable difference in the lives of many and rekindle hope, joy and aspirations in their lives. Our partnership with Zindagi Trust has been a great one and we hope to do a campaign for them sometime again in future. Kudos to all the customers for contributing in all small and big way for the much-deserved children of our country!” 

Besides Zindagi Trust, Mitao Bhook has also colluded with various other non-profit organizations to bring about a peremptory change in the lives of common people, including SOS Children’s Village, TCS School, Deaf Reach School, Aman Foundation etc.

JS Bank honored Sarfaraz after CT17 triumph

It was 18th June and Pakistan had to play final of Champions Trophy 2017 against arch rivals India at Oval. Before toss no one was even thinking of picking Pakistan as favorites; only fans of Pakistan were hoping a win from nowhere. On that particular day Pakistan only lost the toss, other things went in favor of Sarfaraz & Pakistan and finally became champions of Champions Trophy at Oval; it was first time Pakistan picking that trophy. Sarfaraz took decisions of bowling change at right time and every time his bowlers picked up wickets. Key performance of that final was Pakistan’s all round performance, but we can’t miss out those four crucial catches taken by Captain behind the wickets in all important final game of the tournament.

 

After winning the CT17, Sarfaraz & team Pakistan came back to Pakistan and received a heroics welcome. Whether it was from balcony of Sarfaraz’s home, or Hassan Ali’s welcome at his own hometown or Junaid Khan’s welcome at his village. It was superb atmosphere around the country which isn’t stopping anywhere now.  On the continuation of these celebrations players are being called on TV programs on regular basis now. Sarfaraz Ahmed was invited on GEO TV’s game show Geo Khelo Pakistan hosted by legendary bowlers Wasim Akram and Shoaib AKhtar. 

JS Bank Gifted BMW to Sarfraz Ahmed

 

 

On that particular occasion JS Bank Limited became the first brand to honor the winning Captain of Pakistan team, Sarfaraz Ahmed and awarded him with a brand new BMW X1 for bringing the Champions Trophy 2017 home. This superb gesture by JS Bank was appreciated all over the MEDIA including, electronic, print and Social media. On twitter that news trending topic with the hashtag of #JSHonorsSarfraz.

JS Bank set the tendency to appreciate players (champions) of Pakistan and I believe it won’t stop here; it should be followed by other brands as well to recognize our champions in their own style.

What makes you smile:)?

A simple question is being asked since past thirty days on social media including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and so on. I had many things and questions in my own mind that all of sudden why this question is being asked and going viral.

After few days of this video, I got my answer that Mc Donald’s is sharing this positive message and it was their campaign to spread smiles around their community and within customers by serving them well and sharing positive vibes.  I believe this is a superb initiative and brands like Mc Donalds are taking these initiatives should be appreciated. I believe people appreciated it to the extent that it became viral.

My personal experience with McDonald’s has been awesome. McFlurry Cornetto Chocolate has always been my first choice when it comes to desert at Mc Donald’s. It’s a delicious delight of sundae mix made with milk ingredients and soaked in thick warm fudge. I think I am missing some delicious burger’s name, yes it is Spicy Chicken Burger, it will Spice up your fife! I believe this is everyone’s favorite.

Let me answer what makes me smile:)?

When Pakistan wins a cricket match:

Yes, result of Pakistani Cricket team’s every match matters most, and if they are winning it. Today they are playing against India in Champions Trophy let’s wish them best of luck. Pakistan will keep me smiling by winning this champions trophy.

Helping others, when they are in need:

We get the much needed satisfaction only by helping the people in need. It is the most precious smile J that seems distant due to the fact that we have stopped helping others in our lives. Our lives have become selfish and we have started thinking for ourselves letting the good deed away from our society. I find myself smiling whenever I get the chance to help others, and that inner satisfaction never ever comes to other victories or achievements. Hope we all keep supporting and helping others when they are in need.

I urge you all please find these smaller things which will keep you smiling.
